The family of Hugh Clinton Lundy, Sr. is sad to announce his passing but happy to know he is reunited with the love of his life, Melva Gene. Hugh was born in Mobile, Alabama, on February 21, 1934. He passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 90 having survived many illnesses over the last few years that would have taken most normal humans out. Yet he continued to prosper.Hugh graduated from Murphy High School here in Mobile in 1952. He joined the Navy soon thereafter receiving training in Memphis, Tennessee and San Diego, California. He left Melva Gene with a newborn son in San Diego when his combat aircrew was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Princeton. When his time in the Navy was up, they returned home to Mobile to raise their family. He was always proud of his time in the service and wore his Korean Veteran hat whenever he went out.Hugh was known as the "TV man" around Mobile. He and Melva Gene ran Lundy Brothers TV Sales and Service for many years until her health forced them to retire. He loved Dauphin Island and our family was raised from an early age to fish - sometimes sleeping all night on the beach while Daddy fished on the pier. He and Melva Gene bought a boat in the early 70's and a small house on Dauphin Island soon followed. The only thing more important to Dad than fishing was his faith. He and Melva Gene met as teens and attended Zion Baptist Church. They were married there on December 26,1953 when Hugh came home on leave. They raised their children to have a strong faith in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and was heard still witnessing to the ultra-sound tech in the cath lab during a recent hospital stay. He always said The Lord looked out for him throughout his entire life and he was truly grateful for all he had. Hugh and Melva found time to travel in their motorhome and visited 49 of the 50 states together. They spent a month camping in Alaska where he was able to achieve a long-held dream to go halibut fishing.Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Lowrey Lundy, his son Hugh C. Lundy, Jr., his parents, J. Fred and Bessie Yeager Lundy, his brothers Havard Lundy, Gordon Lundy, Jason Virgil Lundy and his sisters, Eloise Drago and Ruth Sciple. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Charles) Saviak, Pamela (James) Neese, and Patricia Lynch, 9 grandchildren - including Rebecca Gruber, Kristen Larsen, Mary Kate Lynch, Rachel Lynch, Jennifer Wilson, James Neese, III, his former son-in-law Robert Lynch, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews, his brother Rev. Gilbert M. (Loretta) Lundy, his sister Iris Lundy (Billy) Anderson, as well as, his special lady, Betty Reniewicz. We would like to thank Betty for her love and friendship and the compassion and love shown to our Daddy over the last few years. We would also like to thank Alabama Hospice Care for their loving care of our Dad and their love and support for our family - especially Rachel, Cindy and Johnny.Honorary pallbearers will be James Greer, Jr., Jason Wilson, James Neese, Jr., James Neese, III, Robert Lynch, Bryce Wilson and Max Wilson.

Funeral services will held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 10am. The family will receive friends from 9am until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
