Nipulon Bounty Walkthrough

Talk Things Over in the Saloon

Use the Bounty-5k to accept the Nipulon Bounty and enter the portal to travel to Old Town. As you emerge from the portal, listen to the Gatlians' heated argument, then walk to the right to reach the Old Town Saloon in western Old Town. Enter the Saloon and place the Gatlians on the table so they can continue airing their grievances.

During the discussion, you'll be given a few dialogue Choices, and though your selections can prompt different voicelines, they won't affect the Main Story. Once the exchange comes to a close, scoop up the Gatlians, exit the Saloon, and take a right to head east toward Dreg Town.

Help the Goop Salesman

Next, head through the Dreg Town entrance and talk to the Goop Salesman pictured above. The Goop Guy, who previously helped you during the Douglas Bounty, will report that his goop creature is sick and that he may die unless he's given medicine derived from a special flower located on the other side of the Terrene Ravine.

To find the special flower, exit Dreg Town and take a right to head toward the west side of Old Town.

When you make it to the western reaches of Old Town, you'll be met by another abrasive Mackincheese Brothers construction crew. After some shoving, the Mackincheese Brothers report that you won't be allowed to cross the Terrene Ravine until Papa Mackincheese comes to the construction site and tells his sons that he loves them.

To talk to Papa Mackincheese, return to the Old Town Saloon by traveling east toward Dreg Town. Once in the Saloon, turn left to find the yellow-alien sporting suspenders and a bowler hat.

The alien in the bowler hat will agree to tell you Papa Mackincheese's location if you duel the ant in the saloon. Walk to the other side of the room to stand five feet apart and prepare to draw your weapon. When the alien yells "draw" shoot the ant. Return to speak to the alien and he'll reveal himself to be Papa Mackincheese.

After talking to Papa Mackincheese about his kids, return to the construction site and Choose from the two dialogue options. Though both options will inevitably allow you to cross the ravine, if you select "Your dad loves you", the Mackincheese brothers will become emotional and their love will create a rainbow bridge.

Cross the rainbow bridge and collect the medicinal flower on the other end. Open the nearby Luglox and return to the Dreg Town entrance to give the special flower to the Goop Guy. On your way back to Dreg Town, a massive Warp Base will appear to try and take you down. Defeat the G3 units here and head to the top of the base to collect a Warp Crystal.

Once you've made it back to the Goop Guy, hand him the flower and enter the cage to get covered in goop.

Get to Nipulon

Now that you're gooped up, exit Dreg Town and take a left to begin the trek toward Nipulon's Lounge. As you travel east you'll encounter various G3 units, and though you'll have the option to kill them, you can also sneak past them since you're disguised by the goop.

Enter Nipulon's Lounge and use the elevator on the left to reach the Lounge Lobby. From here, walk toward the two purple Armored Merks and you'll be escorted to a private booth. When you get to the private booth you'll learn that you're sharing a booth with a human-smoking alien. Kill the alien, and take on the G3 security guards while working your way back to the Lounge Tower area.

Once you've wiped out the guards, ascend through the lounge by using the magnetic walls and grapple bugs overhead. When you reach the second-level platform, expect additional enemies. After clearing this level, search for magnetic walls again and use them to walk around the Lounge and onto the ledge pictured below.

From this ledge, grapple up to the third level, defeat the final wave of enemies protecting this area, and save the human in the cage by teleporting them to the Human Haven. Finally, enter the golden door at the end of the hall to reach Nipulon's Office and speak to Helen at the front desk.

Helen will ask you to wait until Nipulon is ready so grab a seat and you'll be let into Nipulon's Office soon enough.

Nipulon Boss Battle

In one of the most unique battles in High on Life, the Nipulon boss battle consists of four phases, each featuring a unique mechanic.

Nipulon Phase One

In the first phase, you'll brawl with Nipulon in his office as he shoots at you with slow-moving projectiles similar to Kenny's primary fire. Because Nipulon has a large hitbox and no movement abilities, take your time when attacking and fire at him from behind the safety of the office furniture. What Nipulon lacks in mobility he makes up for in tankiness. Not only does he have more health than most of the enemies you've faced thus far, but he's also mostly immune to your stun abilities such as Kenny's Glob Shot.

Once Nipulon's health is at roughly 60% he'll cover himself in a protective barrier before flooding the room with noxious gas to begin Phase Two.

Nipulon Phase Two

As the effects of the gas kick in, you'll find yourself in a dream-like version of Blim City that repeats itself endlessly. Speak to Gene on the city bench where you first met him during the Prologue. During this conversation, you'll be given several dialogue options, and though each one evokes different responses out of Gene, none of them seem to impact any narrative or gameplay elements.

When the conversation ends, approach the beam of light in the center of Blim City and jump into the chasm. Inside the black hole, you'll see a trippy scene as Nipulon creates various, non-aggressive clones. Because the clones do not shoot or take damage, focus on finding the true Nipulon who can be identified by his skin tone or by tracking where his bullets are coming from.

Killing the clones provides little to no incentive as they quickly repopulate so take your time to find the real Nipulon before shooting. Once Nipulon reaches roughly 40% health, you'll be teleported to a new area to begin Phase Three.

Nipulon Phase Three

Similarly to Phase Two, Phase Three places you in a dream-like version of your home that repeats itself without end. However, in this phase, you'll need to speak to Lizzie who can be found by the kitchen table. During the discussion, you'll again receive several dialogue Choices so feel free to select the options you prefer as your selections will not impact narrative or gameplay elements.

After the conversation, approach the beam of light, jump into the black hole, and prepare to fight. Nipulon will clone himself once more but this time his clones will bunch up into a sphere and shoot lasers in a fixed position as they slowly rotate. Unlike the clones in the previous phase, the lasers are a real threat so focus on dodging them while searching for the true Nipulon. All of the clones are green while the original has a peach skin tone.

When you locate him, shoot the true Nipulon until he reaches roughly 10% health and starts Phase Four.

Nipulon Phase Four

As Phase Four begins, you'll need to collect your Gatlians. Kenny will be on the Applebee's table, Gus is sitting at the base of a drill, Sweezy can be found on a table beside a truck, and Creature is located on an operating table. With all of your chatty weapons back in your possession, dive into the black hole one final time to finish Nipulon once and for all.

Now you'll find yourself in a hall populated by Nipulon clones. With all four weapons active at once, race down the hall and carve through the clones with your bullets. When you finally reach the end of the hall, stab Nipulon, then head to his computer to retrieve Earth's coordinates.

Next, use Knifey to collect Nipulon's DNA and go through the portal in the office waiting room. Turn in Nipulon's DNA using the Bounty-5k and congratulations on completing the Nipulon Bounty! All that's left to do now is take down the G3's leader, Garmantuous!
